Homeless Prenatal Program’s Annual Luncheon
The Homeless Prenatal Program (HPP) celebrated 5 years of Jelani House – San Francisco’s first transitional housing shelter for pregnant and postpartum women experiencing homelessness – with its Annual Luncheon on October 17, 2025, at the historic Fairmont Hotel.
Featured speaker, CEO and Founder of Phenomenal Media and New York Times Bestselling Children’s Book Author, Meena Harris, delivered an engaging speech detailing the political and socio-economic landscape our country and our city face. As a Bay Area Native, Meena spoke to the realities of raising a family in the Bay Area and emphasized the importance of supporting organizations like HPP during this time. Harris’s speech underscored the theme of one of her best-selling books: “No one can do everything, but everyone can do something.” Each guest received a signed copy of one of Meena’s children’s books.
HPP’s Jelani House hosts up to 17 women and their babies, providing residents with case management, perinatal support, therapy services and assistance with housing and job readiness. Since its opening in 2020, Jelani House has welcomed 165 women (and their babies), 75% of whom have exited to permanent housing. One former resident, Caitlin Liversidge, told a story of strength, resilience, and power detailing her journey from homelessness to Jelani House and beyond to permanent housing with the “light of her life,” her daughter, Lola – receiving a standing ovation from attendees and the Achievement Award from HPP.
Thank you to our Board of Directors, event committee, sponsors, attendees, and supporters who made this event possible.
