Junior League Hosts “Super Saturday”/“Súper Sábado” at HPP
“I found it first,” shouts the tall girl with pigtails.
“No! It’s mine! I saw it first,” yells her little sister.
Turning to see what the commotion is about, the girls’ mother sees her daughters grabbing at a large, purple plastic egg they had discovered during the Easter Egg hunt. The mother sighs, takes a deep breath and says “You two can both have the big egg, and you can share the prize!” The big sister takes the bottom half of the plastic egg while her little sister takes the top half. Laughing, the sisters skip away together in search of more eggs, forgetting that their dispute ever took place. The mother smiles, delighted with her mediation skills.
The above scene took place at “Super Saturday” (“Super Sábado” in Spanish) when HPP opens its doors one Saturday a month so low-income and homeless families can play games, eat a nutritious lunch and enjoy activities like magic shows, art projects and drumming. Supported and hosted by the Junior League of San Francisco (JLSF), the event is coordinated by Lynn Andrews, HPP’s JLSF Program Chair.
More than 35 children came to the Easter Egg Hunt which was the seventh Super Saturday event held at HPP.
