ABOUT US

Homeless Prenatal Program (HPP) is looking for a Peer Parent Mentor to support families who are currently in the Child Welfare System. This position is only for two years and it provides paid training to Parents who have been former parents in the Child Welfare System. The Peer Mentor is responsible for providing supportive reunification services to families. Responsibilities include providing one-on-one support to families to prevent removals, disruptions, and or assist with reunification action plans from the Department of Human Services. They will help families communicate with their Protective Service Worker, Lawyers, and within Team Decision Making Meetings. Peer Parents are a parent who has successfully worked through their own child protection case and now partners with families to assist them through their child protection cases. They provide linkages to benefits, housing, drug treatment, Mental Health, and other comprehensive support services. Each Peer Mentor work closely with Case Managers and they partner to provide services to each family that is enrolled in the program.

This position is only a two year position in which Parents will be trained in Providing support to families through Mentoring the first year and the second year the Parents will be trained in Case Management.
