Why the Homeless Prenatal Program is the Best Place to Work For (cont.)

I would never have become the person that I am today and continue to become without this program. HPP encourages me to go to therapy and to continue my education. I think our program has such a great mission to empower clients and staff because so many staff come from a life of struggle and poverty. The benefits are so great emotionally -- we get to be better people and stronger women in the community. What more could I possibly want?

HPP offers a wonderful job training program called the Community Health Worker program. I was a participant in 2000. That is were I started and that is where my success began. I have had numerous clients who also have graduated from the program. Some clients have become case managers, advocating for domestic violence programs and other great community organizations. Everyone who has ever worked here wishes she did not leave or she never had to leave. Not only are we co-workers, but we also are family, and we try to make our clients feel that way, too. We support each other so much. We are an empowerment program.
