HPP was one of three organizations honored on Dec. 8 at Tipping Point Community’s Third Annual Awards Breakfast, recognizing Bay Area organizations working to prevent poverty in the region.
Each honoree received a grant of $50,000. Tipping Point Community is dedicated to finding effective nonprofits addressing poverty in the community and connecting them to resources and opportunities to ensure their success.
Tipping Point Community has been a generous and steadfast partner of our work for many years. Recently, it was responsible for SingleStop USA’s selection of HPP as one of its San Francisco sites to partner in connecting the needy with public benefits and tax credits in one single convenient location.
Tipping Point Community also served as the impetus behind global consulting firm Accenture’s pro-bono construction of HPP’s multi-million dollar, state-of-the-art database system. This enabled HPP to improve and enhance services for clients by collecting and tracking accurate, comprehensive and relevant information.
“The San Francisco Foundation gave birth to the Homeless Prenatal Program, but Tipping Point, they made us grow up,” Executive Director Martha Ryan noted in her speech. “They have made it possible for us to mindfully move into our next twenty years.” (If you are interested in watching Martha Ryan’s entire speech, please click here.)
The awards breakfast also featured the announcement of a $1 million donation – one of the largest to date for the organization – to Tipping Point Community from the Sergey Brin and Anne Wojcicki Foundation. Mr. Brin is the co-founder of Google.
“When it comes to poverty, it’s too late for pessimism,” Tipping Point Community Founder and CEO Daniel Lurie stated at the breakfast. “We thank Sergey and Anne for their generous donation, which will allow us to further our mission to break the cycle of poverty for good.” Congratulations Tipping Point Community, and thank you for all that you have done and continue to do for our families in need. And congratulations as well to Canal Alliance and KIPP Bay Area Schools, who were also honored.
