Mental Health Team Manager Wins Prestigious Scholarship and Earns Doctorate

December 30, 2009 | Achievements,News,Stabilizing Families

Ivania MolinaCongratulations to Mental Health Team Manager Ivania Molina, Ph.D, who won the Mental Health Loan Repayment Program Scholarship from the Health Professions Education Foundation and the California Department of Mental Health. Ivania also recently passed a supplemental exam to become an officially licensed psychologist. The scholarship is geared towards student loan repayment and is awarded to applicants who work in mental health professional shortage areas. On average, only approximately 20% of applicants receive this scholarship.

As HPP’s newly licensed clinical psychologist, Ivania provides therapy services to clients with an expertise in trauma and domestic violence, in addition to offering consultation and training services for staff. A graduate of UC Berkeley and daughter of a single mother, Ivania immigrated from El Salvador at the age of six and grew up in San Francisco’s Outer Mission district. “I’m very passionate about working with the clients at HPP so this scholarship will help me further fulfill my goals of helping families heal from adversity and overcome the challenges of being homeless and living in poverty,” Molina said. “I really enjoy working at HPP and appreciate the diversity and richness of cultures that everyone offers.”
