Congratulations to HPP’s Dependency Drug Court Program, which celebrated its third anniversary on Nov. 18 with partners and supporters from the San Francisco Superior Court, Human Services Agency, Department of Public Health, City Attorney’s Office, and Hamilton Family Services! Patrick Mahoney, Supervising Judge of the Unified Family Court Division, Commissioner Catherine Lyons, and successful DDC clients were among the featured speakers. The program was established as a result of San Francisco’s high percentage of children in foster care and higher rate of re-entry into the child welfare system as compared to other counties. The DDC collaborative brings together the court system, government agencies, and community-based nonprofits to guide and support parents in taking the necessary steps to reunify with their children who have been placed in foster care and/or avoid losing their children to foster care because of substance abuse. “If we didn’t have Michele Hill (HPP’s DDC Team Manager) and the team, we wouldn’t have had this program.” DDC Coordinator Jennifer Pasinosky praised at the celebration.
