HPP’s “Building Strong Families” support group shared a fun and carefree Friday Family Outing on Aug. 7 at Potrero el Sol Park. A jumpy house, popcorn machine, delicious food, and piñata rounded out an exciting event that allowed group members and their families to nurture friendships and build a sense of community.
The support group meets every Thursday for two hours and offers a variety of presentations on immigration services, nutrition, child development, and parenting issues. The groups create a community among single Latina mothers who previously felt isolated and without a strong support network.
“Many of these families lead difficult lives, and Friday Family Outings offer an opportunity for them to forget their problems for a day, enjoy themselves, and get more involved with their children and others in their community,” HPP Team Leader Sonia Batres said.
