Position Overview:
The Director of Development is responsible for leading the HPP’s development program. Expanding the annual fund raising program and building HPP’s major donor program are key elements of future growth. To sustain current revenue levels and achieve this growth, the Director of Development partners with and reports to the Executive Director, manages a department of five full-time staff, and works with the Development and Executive Committees of the Board.
Major Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive, diversified fund raising program, including individual giving, corporate giving, special events, institutional giving, and public funding. Create an annual development plan and report on progress to the Executive Director, Development Committee, Executive Committee and Board of Directors. Partner with Development Committee and other Board members to sustain and enhance annual giving and annual event.
- Develop and expand major donor program, with the goal of broadening the donor base, through prospect identification and cultivation, solicitor training and support, and donor recognition and stewardship. Build cultivation program: coordinate and facilitate cultivation efforts of board, volunteers, Executive Director. Create, plan and direct cultivation events, leveraging existing HPP activities, communications and other cultivation opportunities. Meet with major donors and major donor prospects as appropriate.
- Build the foundation and corporate giving program by developing and maintaining relationships with key funders; identify new funding opportunities.
- Establish a positive, collaborative working relationship with the Executive Director, board members, staff and volunteers to assure the most effective use of talents, resources, and ideas and instill sound fundraising practices that are developed and integrated agency-wide.
