Domestic Violence Advocate
Summary of Job:
This position will be a part of an advocate team for CalWORKS clients experiencing domestic violence. Peer Advocates provide CalWORKS support for CalWORKS clients experiencing domestic violence, as well as consultation to CalWORKS staff. They also provide counseling and referral to clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Help CalWORKS clients initiate, extend and manage domestic violence exemptions in order to assure their benefits remain in tact.
- Ensure exemptions are in compliance and up-to-date.
- Offer counseling and referrals to clients experiencing or recovering from domestic violence.
- Create domestic violence service plans that align with Welfare-to-Work plans and manage client progress.
- Assist clients to participate in employment services to the full extent of their abilities.
- Act as a liaison between CalWORKS clients and the Homeless Prenatal Program.
- Maintain an active workload of ~65 cases at any given time.
- Provide monthly report for each participant on compliance with participation and progress of the domestic violence service plan.
- Consult and train DHS staff on assessment, counseling employment and legal issues for survivors of domestic violence and their families.
- Case conference with CalWORKS staff on best service plan for clients.
- Establish and maintain relationships with DHS staff.
- Attend weekly individual supervision meetings and case conferences with HPP staff.
- Make presentations at CalWORKS orientations.
- Prepare, maintain and disperse domestic violence services informational handouts and referral guide.
- Develop proficient computer skills with both CalWORKS and HPP client databases.
- Other duties as assigned such assisting with HPP intakes, managing reception area, answering phone, filing, etc.
Qualifications:
- GED or High School diploma; coursework in psychology or social work program at a community college or university.
- Demonstrated experience with client demographics.
- Bi-lingual in either English/Spanish or English/Cantonese
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work in a diverse and stressful environment with families with multiple issues.
- Ability to show flexibility and respond to the needs of families.
- Ability to be compassionate while being firm and consistent in working with targeted population
- Ability to navigate the internet, operate Microsoft Office applications and client database.
- Comfortable with and willing to work in inner-city environment.
- Strong sense of self-awareness and sense of limitations.
- Ability to establish appropriate professional and personal boundaries with high integrity.
- Ability to utilize good judgment, think critically and make sound decisions.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- California Driver’s license and auto insurance desired, but not required.
Hours Per Week: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday.
Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to work under stress and handle multiple project deadlines. The position may require moderate lifting.

Lead Domestic Violence Advocate

- Manage all reporting (three person team) for CalWORKS domestic violence extensions to ensure compliance and client progress.
- Offer counseling and referrals to clients experiencing or recovering from domestic violence.

- Assist clients to participate in employment services to the full extent of their abilities.
- Act as the primary liaison between CalWORKS and HPP, building relationships at all 3 designated CalWORKS sites.
- Act as the primary liaison between CalWORKS and collaborative agencies.
- Attend all collaborative agency meetings.
- Consult and train DHS staff on assessment, counseling employment and legal issues for survivors of domestic violence and their families.
- Case conference with CalWORKS staff on best service plan for clients, especially regarding complicated cases.
- Attend weekly individual supervision meetings and case conferences with HPP staff.
- Make presentations at CalWORKS orientations.

Systems Administrator
Summary of job:
You will be responsible for creating and maintaining a simple and reliable workstation experience for our diverse staff– that’s 70+ end users and growing! Your work will be a mix of infrastructure improvement and patient end user support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, design, maintain and improve our IT infrastructure, which currently consists of approximately 8 windows servers, 25 infrastructure devices, and 90 personal computers. If you think that is too many servers, you’re on the right track.
- Answer the majority of help desk tickets pertaining to end user support for computers, new user provisioning, mobile devices, software applications, audio-visual equipment setup, multi-function copiers, printers, and fax machines.
- Expertise required to solve problems immediately, and the wisdom to do whatever it takes to prevent problems from re-occurring. Pro-active is the word.
- Ensure reliable and redundant back-up and disaster recovery systems are in place for data, applications, and servers.
- Be responsible for implementing the best possible security measures given the available resources.
- Liaise with service providers, take ownership of the systems and suggest changes as needed
- Document, document, document all processes, procedures and configurations. Rigorously. When you go on vacation, we shouldn’t have to call you for support.
Qualifications:
Required: B.S. degree. 4 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Proven background in building and maintaining reliable infrastructure.
- 6+ years experience with Windows based systems administration & troubleshooting, with an understanding of server virtualization.
- Knowledge of common IETF protocols – IPv4, IPv6, DNS, DHCP, SSH, SMTP, etc.
- Scripting and programming skills focused on task automation (bash, vbs/wscript/pshell, cmd batch scripting)
- Desire to learn about and implement best practices.
- Must be an excellent English language speaker.
- Excellent work ethic and positive attitude, modest yet ambitious– you must excel both independently and as a team member
Desired: You will have to work with the following tools, technologies, and products on a daily basis; we will expect you to master them quickly. Experience with any of them is a huge plus.
